Antoine Stigter exhibition at Eindeloos
Antoine Stigter from Emmeloord exhibits work at restaurant Eindeloos in his hometown. The former rapper makes work that can be characterized as mix media / street art.
The artist from Emmeloord started as a rap artist in 2000 because of his great love for hip-hop culture with his four elements rap, break dance, graffiti and DJ. After being active as a word artist for almost twenty years, he decided it was enough.
The ambition and passion for rapping had disappeared, but the passion for being creative was still there.
One day in 2017, he bought paint for his daughter. Not only his daughter went to work creatively, but Stigter also took up the brush himself.
He started to love painting. Online he searched for different styles and techniques that appealed to him and without any knowledge or training he went to work. Antoine Stigter’s current work consists of a décollage style executed with old street posters finished with portraits of women and men.
The style can be described as mix media / street art.
People often look for a deeper meaning behind a painting, but so far there are none.
‘I just want to make beautiful work with a luxurious modern look.
Art with an edge ‘he says about it himself.
A few weeks ago, Stigter ‘boldly’ walked into Endless, looking for a place where his work could be seen.
‘In my view, endless is the ideal location. A place with a young, fresh but above all modern look that fits perfectly with the work I make.
‘The people from Eindeloos were immediately enthusiastic after seeing Stigter’s work.
‘It didn’t take long before an appointment was scheduled and the works were placed.
The pieces are supposed to rotate every so often.
Nice extra: if a work is sold through Eindeloos, the buyer will receive a voucher of 50 euros to spend at Eindeloos.
‘For more information and work by the artist, see the Stigter website.
